Lorraine was born in Lynn Massachusetts to Michael and Sadie (Turball) Donahue on September 30, 1928. She was one of six children. She was married to the love of her life, John Smart, on July 8, 1950. Together they had 3 children: Richard, Janis and Michael.
Lorraine was an avid reader. One of her favorite authors was Tom Clancy. She enjoyed crocheting, doing needle point embroidery, and crossword puzzles. She liked to collect Precious Moments statues and Lighthouses as well.
Lorraine was a strong willed, independent woman who left a lasting impact on her entire family. She was a devoted, loving mother to her three children as well as a warmhearted and loving grandmother, great grandmother, and aunt. Her life was filled with challenges but she managed to always rise above them. In spite of the challenges she faced, Lorraine always found time to spread love & kindness to all she knew. Whether it was a weekly phone call, a card in the mail, or a visit, Lorraine made sure her family & friends were loved. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John and siblings James (Jim), William (Bill), Edward (ed), Mildred (Mitzi) and Patricia (Pat).
