The Shipper Family is deeply saddened to announce the death of Irwin Walter Shipper. Irwin was an active member of the International Cemetery, Cremation & Funeral Association for 69 years. He served as President of the Association from 1996–1998, was inducted into the ICCFA Hall of Fame in 2004. Irwin chaired the Government and Legal Affairs Committee for 25 years and in 2017 was named Chairman Emeritus of the Committee. Irwin was also responsible for the fundraising activities of the Government and Legal Fund and chaired the ICCFA PAC Disbursement Committee that decides which candidates in Congressional elections received our PAC support.
In his acceptance speech for his Hall of Fame honor, Irwin said, "Our industry is not for short-term players. It requires people with patience, fortitude and dedication and an Association of caring and sharing people to back us up. It has been a privilege to have worked so closely with so many of you dedicated members of our industry for so many years."
Funeral service will be held in the Shipper Family Sanctuary at 10:30 am Friday, November 15th at Temple Beth David in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Interment services will be held at Beth Israel Cemetery in Woodbridge, New Jersey in the chapel on Sunday, November 17th at 10:30 am. Irwin was instrumental in the growth of ICCFA, and a luminary of the end-of-life profession. He will be greatly missed.
