Born April 30, 1929 in Ashtabula, Ohio, she was the daughter of Sam and Lena (Volpone) DiSalvatore and the sixth of 12 children.
Jean was a 1947 graduate of Edgewood High School. She married Domenic A. Cusano, Sr. on February 18, 1950 and together they raised four children. Jean retired in 1992 after 20+ years in the credit department at Carlisle’s Department Store. She and Domenic moved to Bradenton in 1999 to enjoy their retirement years. She attended Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Catholic Church in Bradenton.
Jean was a devoted mother to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was an exceptional baker of Italian pastries and breads. She was an extraordinary hostess of many family parties and events. Jean was known for her “green thumb” and enjoyed cultivating all types of houseplants and outdoor flower beds. She realized a lifelong dream of visiting Italy in 2000 when she and Domenic, along with her brother Patrick, traveled there in celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary.
Survivors include three sons, Domenic A. (Rebecca) Cusano, Jr. of Chicago, IL; John M. Cusano and Beverly Daniel of Bradenton, FL; Ronald D. (Sanders Mishkin) Cusano of Lambertville, NJ; one daughter Tina M. Beauchemin and Jim Monti of Norwell, MA; one sister Josephine Larsen of Dallas, Tx; three brothers Sam (Mary Grace) DiSalvatore of Ashtabula, OH, Reuben (Nancy) DiSalvatore of Tallmadge, OH and Patrick DiSalvatore of North Olmsted, OH; grandchildren Kevin Cusano, Kristen Fowler, Marc Cusano, Jenna Lewis, Leslie Davis, Craig Cusano, Lia Beauchemin and Kara Beauchemin; great-grandchildren Evie, Lucas, Cecilia, Michael, Sophia, Lucy, Mae Ann, Lowrey, Lilah, Brodie and Domenic and many nieces and nephews.
Her husband, parents, sisters Ann, Grace, Mamie and Cecilia and brothers James, Joseph, and Albert preceded her in death.
A memorial service and burial at St. Joseph Cemetery in Ashtabula, Ohio will be announced at a later date.
