Fred M. La Giglia Jr, age 72, Air Force National Guard Veteran, died peacefully on January 9, 2021. Cherished son of the late Fred Sr. and Jeanette, to whom Fred Jr. was deeply devoted. Loving brother of Frank Michael. A graduate of Marquette University, Fred worked as an engineer for Cook County until his retirement. He is remembered for being kind and easy-going, a great softball player and a lover of good Italian food. Fred was also an avid golfer and black jack player. His faith and his extended family were of utmost importance to Fred and he will be missed by his dear friends and by multiple generations of cousins, some of whom called him “Uncle Fred.”
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, there will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Fred’s memory to the Liver Foundation.org or the Gary Sinise Foundation honoring veterans, first responders and defenders; see links below. The family is also grateful to the care given Fred by the Intensive Care staff at St. Catherine Hospital in East Chicago, IL.
A Mass of Remembrance will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at St. Catherine of Alexandria Church, 10621 S. Kedvale Ave, Oak Lawn, IL 60453 at 10:30 am, followed by interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 6001 W. 111th St., Alsip, IL 60803.
EVERYONE ATTENDING THE FUNERAL MASS MUST BE REGISTERED IN ADVANCE. MASKS ARE MANDATORY.
