RET CW3 Byron Ray Potts, 73 of Huntsville, Alabama passed away on November 16, 2020. Byron was born in Matador, Texas on September 30, 1947. He was a retired from the Army after 20 years of service as a CW3. After his retirement from the military, he went on to work as a government contractor for CAS where he retired in 2013. Byron was a Christian who loved the Lord and teaching Sunday School. He enjoyed stamp collecting and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Chong Suk Potts; his mother, Thelma Jo Potts; his father, Sedrick Clifford Potts, and his sister, Ruth Elaine Querisha.
Left to cherish his memory include his children, Michele Spray (Rick) of Huntsville, AL and Samuel Potts (Amy) of Huntsville, AL; four grandchildren, Rainy, Andre, Alyssa, and Savannah; his sister, Jo Anne (Glen); his brother Carroll (Cassie); his honorary grandchildren Savannah, Tia, and Zane; and his many nieces and nephews.
You may visit with the family on Friday, November 20, 2020 from 5-7 pm and Saturday, November 21, 2020 from 11 am-12 pm at Valhalla Funeral Home. Services will be Saturday, November 21, 2020 at 12 pm with Chaplain Rob Peavy officiating at Valhalla Funeral Home. Interment, with Full Military Honors will follow the service at Valhalla Memory Gardens in the Garden of Gethsemane. Both the Funeral Service and the Military Service will be live streamed on Valhalla Funeral Home and Memory Gardens Facebook page.
