A premier Nashville funeral home

Premium reception venue at Mount Olivet Funeral Home & CemeteryFor more than 160 years, Mount Olivet Funeral Home has served people from all backgrounds. We respect timeless traditions and offer modern choices when it comes remembering loved ones and celebrating life. Above all, we’re loving, friendly people who will hold your hand, be a shoulder to cry on and give you all the time you need to make decisions.

Located on Lebanon Pike, near Spence Lane, the funeral home is a truly beautiful space in which to plan and hold a funeral. Recently renovated and exquisitely furnished, it welcomes families like a breath of fresh air. Light and charming, with Southern sophistication, it exemplifies the warmth and attention to detail we offer everyone who walks through our door. From the pink peonies on a gilded table to the crystal obelisks that allude to the striking memorial structures in the cemetery, the funeral home is rich in texture, color and feeling—which is how we design each and every service.

Mount Olivet’s funeral chapel seats 250. A large window at back of the chapel overlooks a small grove of crepe myrtles and the rolling hills of Mount Olivet Cemetery. During the day, natural light fills the space, which is decorated in three shades of silver. Six-foot columns and a vaulted ceiling draw the eye upward and give the chapel a grand and dignified feeling. A state-of-the-art sound system does justice to Nashville’s many talented musicians. Our on-site florist can handle most requests for funeral flowers, from casket sprays to standing wreaths to sympathy bouquets.

Lindsley Hall celebration venue

Named for suffragist Louise Grundy Lindsley, who was instrumental in securing women’s right to vote in Tennessee and is buried at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Lindsley Hall is the funeral home’s gracious event room. With round tables and chairs and plenty of space to set up a buffet, the room is transformed anew as we plan something unique for each family. Food, drinks, live music, flowers and custom decor create a relaxed opportunity to talk about good times and remember a loved one—it’s how we help turn comfort into a memorable memorial.

Let’s celebrate life

Memorialization at Mount Olivet Funeral Home & CemeteryWe believe every person’s life is unique—and deserves to be celebrated in a unique and memorable way. Our team is skilled at creating one-of-a-kind tributes that honor and celebrate a loved one’s passions, individuality and personality.

With an attentive team who is dedicated to going the extra mile for every family, there is almost no limit to what we can plan for you or your loved one. Did he play a mean guitar and adore country music? Imagine a musical tribute filled with performances by bandmates and a feast of Nashville hot chicken. Did she excel on the tennis court? We can decorate the event space with nets and rackets and give family and friends personalized tennis balls to take home. We’ve turned the funeral home into a mecca for sports fans, and we’ve rolled motorcycles and more right into our chapel. If you can imagine it, we’ll try to do it.

Of course, if you prefer something more traditional, we are experts in that, too.

Cremation services

Not everyone knows that there are many cremation options. If you are interested in cremation, the funeral home team can explain the process and the different memorial and burial choices. From a direct cremation without a service or a witness to a full funeral service before or after the cremation and more, we help you understand this increasingly common decision.

Mount Olivet Cemetery

Estates at Mount Olivet Funeral Home & CemeteryDating back to 1856, Mount Olivet Cemetery is among Nashville’s more renowned resting places. Its celebrated history includes impressive family memorials and noted interments of many famous Nashvillians. Governors, senators, mayors and the prosperous businessmen and businesswomen who helped build Nashville from the ground up are memorialized here. The Confederate Circle holds the graves of about 1,500 known and unknown soldiers who died in battles of Franklin, Murfreesboro, Stones River and others. Our perpetual care reflects preservation of the historical aspect of the cemetery, including headstones, monuments and sculptures.

You don’t have to be famous to be buried here, however. The nondenominational cemetery’s peaceful, protected, park-like grounds encompass 206 acres divided into 40 gardens for people of many cultures. Burial options include private estates, traditional ground burial, spectacular mausoleums and cremation interment options.

Striking obelisks and award-winning arbors

Mount Olivet is the only cemetery in the area with an abundance of obelisks. The 45-foot-tall (or taller) monuments are a signature of the memorial park. Additionally, the Nashville Tree Foundation has recognized Mount Olivet Cemetery as an arboretum. The foundation works to preserve and enhance Nashville’s urban forest, identifying the oldest and largest trees in Davidson County. Mount Olivet is proud to promote environmental awareness and provide a learning experience. Our botanical garden forms a living collection of more than 75 labeled species and varieties of trees for visitors to enjoy.
