

L.J. “Bud” Reilly, 94, of Ames, died Saturday, January 1, 2011 at Bethany Manor in Story City. A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 6 from 5 to 7 p.m. with a vigil service at 7 p.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Ames. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, January 7 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church with Father James Secora presiding. Burial will follow at Ames Municipal Cemetery. There will be a luncheon at the church following the burial.
Bud was born May 9, 1916 in Ames to Andrew and Martha (Duffy) Reilly. He attended Cameron School and graduated from Gilbert High School. He married Dorothy Waller on August 25, 1942.
He was born, raised, and resided in the same home his entire life. He enjoyed farming, fishing in Canada, watching collegiate sports, and traveling, including two trips to Ireland.
He was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church and the Moose Lodge. He served as the clerk for Franklin Township for many years.
He is survived by nine children, Marta (David) Joy, Larry (Lowry) Reilly, Laura (Jim Abrams) Reilly, Terry (Nancy) Reilly, Denny (Bev) Reilly, Colleen (Ron) Twedt, John (Kim) Reilly, Erin (Steve) Flood, and Rory Reilly; nineteen grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Andrew; daughter, Mary; four brothers; and two sisters.
