Ralph “Bill” William Netcott Jr., 82, passed away on April 6, 2021 in Ames, IA. A visitation will be held at Stevens Memorial Chapel on Sunday, April 11, from 3 to 6 PM. Due to COVID, Bill’s family encourages attendees wear a face mask if possible. A funeral service will be held at St. Cecilia Catholic Church on Monday, April 12, at 10:30 AM. Burial will be held at McCallsburg Cemetery. A luncheon will be held after the graveside service at Stevens Memorial Chapel.
Bill was born to Ralph and Elaine (Anderson) Netcott on March 30, 1939 in Monticello, IA. He graduated from Ames High School in 1957. After meeting the love of his life at the skating rink in Ames, Bill married Betty Thompson on August 23, 1958. He worked for D.O.T. for 30 years, retiring in 1997. He will be remembered for his love of motorcycles and fast cars, watching The Lawrence Welk Show, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Elaine Netcott.
Bill is survived by his wife, Betty Rae Netcott of Ames; sons, Kevin Netcott of Gilbert, and Kelly Netcott of Kelley; daughter, Kimberly Rae Hancock of Ankeny; brothers, Curtis Netcott of Polk City, and Jeff Netcott of Clarion; grandchildren, Joshua Netcott, Shayla Netcott, Lacey Hike, Chad Netcott, Steven Netcott, Nicole Hancock, Weston Netcott, and Alissia Netcott; and 10 great-grandchildren.
