

Ralph “Bob” Vance, 89, of Huxley, died Monday, November 8, 2010. A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 11 from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. and the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City.
Ralph Vance was born October 10, 1921 in Mason City to Robert and Anna (Magoon) Vance. He attended Mason City High School until joining the Army in 1941. He served during WW II in the Red Bull Division, which saw more active duty than any other division.
Much of his life, he was an iron worker. Following his retirement, he worked for thirty years at Wayne Larson Collision in Ames. He was a member of the ironworker’s union.
He is survived by three daughters, Jodi (Jack) Hall of Kentwood, Michigan, Bobbi (Bill) Crow and Mikki (Gary) Wheeler, both of Apache Junction, Arizona; five grandchildren, Robert (Maureen) Hall, Jack Hall, Connie Hall, Michael McCall, and Ryan McConnaughy; and five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Faye in 1997; brothers, Clinton and Roger; and sister, Margaret.
