Billy Edwin Stroup

Billy was born on August 11, 1944 in Apex, NC to the late Jacob S. Stroup Sr and Amy Stroup. He had a strong faith in God and loved his family. As a young man, he attended Apex Baptist Church and after marriage, he attended Pleasant Plains Baptist Church. In later life, he returned to Apex Baptist Church. Billy started working at the local Apex grocery stores a young age. He later graduated Apex High School in 1965. Shortly thereafter, he married his lifelong sweetheart, Annie Pendergraph.

Billy proudly served in the United States Army at Fort Bragg’s Intelligence Division from 1967-1969. Afterwards, he obtained his associate business degree and worked for the following: Beech-Nut Life Savers, M&M Mars, Creed Plumbing Supplies, ACME Plumbing in Durham before starting his own plumbing company, Stroup Plumbing Company in 1979.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Annie P. Stroup; and his brother, Jacob Stroup Jr.

Surviving are his son, Jonathan S. Stroup Sr (April); grandchildren, Jonathan Scott Stroup Jr and Amber Rei Stroup; brother, John Stroup (Paula); and many nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends and guests on Monday, August 12, 2024 from 10:00AM to 11:00AM with a service immediately following at 11:00 AM at Apex Baptist Church. He will be laid to rest following the service at Apex Cemetery, Apex, NC.

In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions may be donated to Apex Baptist Church and/or Transitions Hospice Care.
