

Carol Jean Bowen, 83, was born on September 16th, 1941 to the late Rollie and Ollie Smith in Cincinnati, Ohio. She loved her family, and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother . She met her husband Jack Bowen, in high school and they started dating after she invited him to her sweet 16 party. She worked as a hair stylist for many years, in mostly part time positions , in order to be home with her 3 kids as much as possible. She also worked at Thalhimers Department Store, in cosmetics. She was told many times that she looked like Doris Day. Once, at about 20 years old she was mobbed in a movie theater because the crowd thought she was the actress. She was fun, funny, and loving, and never met a stranger.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her infant sister Mary Evalee Smith, her brother Donald Smith, her daughter in law Angela Simpson Bowen ,and her other daughter in law Nancy Anderson Bowen.
She is survived by her loving family: Her husband Jack Bowen, Her 3 children Debbie Bowen McKinney (Tim), Her sons John Bowen and Jamie Bowen, her granddaughter Kasey McKinney Cooper (Mike), her sister Janet Schiesler, and many nieces and nephews.
A service will be held Sunday, February 16th, 2025 at Salem Baptist Church (Chapel) at 1821 N Salem St, Apex, NC 27523 at 2:00 PM.
