Carole, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, was born on July 18, 1943, in Vincennes, Indiana. She was the second oldest of Jack and Carolyn Deck’s six daughters. She was discovered on March 28, 2025 to have passed peacefully in her sleep at home in Holly Springs, North Carolina, at age 81.
Her family and friends are heartbroken by her sudden and unexpected passing.
Carole was a warm and exuberant person, always genuinely interested in others, stopping to talk to so many she encountered in public and during her daily walks in her neighborhood. She grew up in Louisville, Kentucky. She shined in school as a bright student, and loved to perform ballet and tap dance.
At 19, Carole married Tuffy Hamilton. Their lives took them to Indiana, Ohio, Maryland and eventually San Diego, California, raising three daughters and remaining good friends despite divorcing in 1973. Carole earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics with a minor in English from the University of Maryland and completed graduate work in computer science at the University of California, San Diego. Her studies led to a career in computer programming, technical writing, and document design. In her later years, she created her own digital design business, which she was very proud of. In 2009, semi-retired, Carole moved to North Carolina to be near her beloved grandsons, and spent many days participating in their growing lives. She enjoyed making new friends in her bridge group, volunteer work, neighborhood, and bingo.
Carole will be sadly missed by her daughter, Bridget, and her son-in-law, John; her daughters Kelly and Wendy; her grandsons Winter and Colby; her sisters Judy, Ginny, Susie and Vera; and so many other wonderful family and friends, including Tuffy. She was preceded in death by her sister Peggy.
The family will have a private ceremony at a later date and time in California.
