

Caroline Colgen Caruthers Fee, 68, died Thursday, March 29, 2012. She was born on January 6, 1944 to Robert Surguy Caruthers and Margaret Mitchell Caruthers. She was preceded in death by both parents, older brothers Bobby and Blake Caruthers, and her grandson, Ben Fee.
Ms. Fee is survived by her sons: Michael Fee and wife, Susie of Apex, and Tim Fee and wife, Seran of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Austin and Julia Fee of Apex, NC; Jenny, Peyton and Alyssa Fee of Jacksonville, FL. Caroline is also survived by her sister, Lynne Shaw of Little Falls, NJ; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Caroline was born in Morristown, NJ. She spent most of her adolescent years in New Jersey, with a brief period of time spent in Palo Alto, California. She then attended Randolph Macon Women’s College in Virginia. She retired from Nabisco, Inc. where she spent 25 years in public relations. During the last decade she came out of retirement to work part time as an editor for UNC-TV and as an usher for the Progress Energy Theater.
Caroline was a compassionate, loving and generous mother, grandmother and friend. She had an amazing wit and love for life which lifted all who knew her. She loved travel, literature, music, good food and wine, and most importantly, time with her friends and family.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, April 28, 2012 at Apex Funeral Home Chapel, 550 W. Williams St., Apex, NC 27502. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
