I regret having to miss Bunn's memorial service due to grandson-baby-sitting duties down in Atlanta. Seeing pictures of Bunn with his grandchildren takes me back to when I first met Bunn.  
We were both 6-years-old and in Mrs. Johnson's first grade class (in 1958).  We became pretty good friends during the ensuing years, because--by chance--we ended up with same teacher for the first 6 grades!
Bunn is the classmate who convinced me that the whole Santa Claus thing is a fake--something I still believe today! That walruses are as big as houses, I no longer believe, however.
In Jr. Hi. & Hi. School we were in many of the same classes.  And we played on the football team together.  We often sat on the same bench seat on the activity bus when traveling to/from Junior High away games.  I think Bunn was the first guy with which I ever had an extended discussion about girls. (My lips are sealed.)
Neither of us played very much our sophomore year. But we got to play a bit more when we were juniors. The highlight of Bunn's season that year may have been when I (as QB) handed off the ball to him (as halfback) in a game in which we were getting beaten pretty badly ... once again. As I made the hand-off, I figured he would be blown up when he hit the line of scrimmage. It was a rough game for us. But instead, the defensive line miraculously parted like the Red Sea when Coach Moses waved his staff. As a result, Bunn was able to rumble for a good sixteen yards--the longest gain of any running back on our team that night. That was probably the most amazing running back play I witnessed that entire season. And I'll never forget  how big his eyes were and how excited he was when he returned to the huddle. We tried the same play again; however, this time the defense was ready. But no matter, Bunn still had the most yards per carry "record" for that game.
Bunn was a great teammate, and a kind friend. May his memory bring many smiles to his family and friends in all the days to come.

My Great Uncle Bunn was the sweetest, kindest, most gentle soul. I miss and love him so much, we had so many great times together when i was little. May his soul rest in peace.

Bunn was sweet, gentle, and hard-working. I was first his high school French teacher. Later James & I were customers, as he dug a pond for us in Buckingham. He even came to court later  as a witness for us, when a nasty neighbor sued us over the pond. Then he dug it again! When I went into real estate, I had several dealings with Bunn. He was always great to work with. I know the last few years have been a struggle and difficult for everyone. He is at peace now. A life well-lived.

On behalf of myself and  all of the AHS Class of 1970, I want to extend our our most heartfelt sympathy to you on the loss of Bunn.  He was one of us - classmate, family, friend, partner-in-crime, just an all-round great guy.  I knew Bunn and I were 2 of the older class members, but just noticed our birthdays were only 2 days apart.

We know that the past few years have been difficult, but we also know that he was cared for by you in every way possible to do so.   I pray the memories of the good times will be of great comfort for you all in the coming days.  

Until we meet again our fellow Class of 1970 fellow Yellow Jacket.  May you rest in peace our dear friend.
