David M. Register

David McFarland Register, 62, of Sanford, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday morning, July 25, 2015. Born in Chatham County on December 31, 1952; he was the son of Delores Gaines Register and the late Barney Harry Register, Jr., of Sanford, NC.

David was an Eagle Scout and went on to play basketball and graduate from Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, Virginia. He joined his father at North Carolina Fire and Safety, enjoying 46 years with the business. David was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Sanford, serving as both a Deacon and youth director with his wife, Vickie. He was also a member of the Shriners and Masonic Lodge of Sanford #151. He served on the Board at Southern National Bank in Apex, received the Paul Harris Fellow Award through Rotary and received the Civic Recognition Award in Sanford. Most importantly; however, was David’s role as a beloved husband, loving father and the best Granddaddy there ever was.

He is survived by his mother, by his wife of 43 years: Vickie Fuquay Register, of Sanford; son: Christopher David Register, of Wake Forest; daughter: Anna Janelle Miles (William); of Sanford; granddaughters: Savanna Elizabeth and Amelia Grace Miles; sisters: Diane Koontz (Mike), of Concord, Susan Oldham (Donnie), of Sanford, and Clara Robbins (Jay), of Cary; and by many nieces and nephews, other family and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at 11 AM at the First Presbyterian Church in Sanford (203 Hawkins Ave), with the family to receive friends following the service.
