I was heartbroken to hear about the loss of sweet Deena. She was adored by all whose lives she touched. Her beautiful smile, welcoming spirit, wonderful sense of humor and generosity are what got me through my first days and many years to follow at Kansas City Ballet. Such an amazing friend and role model. I always hoped that I would be just like her. Sending my condolences to Fred, Wesley and all of Deena’s family. ❤️

I danced with Deena in Kansas City. She was always sincere, kind and sweet. As dancers, we spend alot of time together and I was always impressed by her strength, caring attitude, and the respect she showed to all. She was funny, and made us laugh but she was also so caring. She went the extra mile as a dancer and as a person to help others. I send my condolences to her family and friends. She was truly a light to all who met her.

I grew up watching Deena dance. When I joined the Kansas City Ballet, Todd Bolender often put us together as partners and she showed great patience with me and taught me so much about being a better partner and dancer. She was kind and witty and always encouraging. I am saddened by the loss of this beautiful lady. She will be terribly missed.

Dearest loved ones of Deena:
We are so sorry for your enormous loss. There are so many memories of sweet Deena and when I think of her I think in her beautiful smile and glowing heart. She put others in front of herself and although had a full plate of loving mother, wife, daughter, sister and business owner, she was available to lend a hand. I remember when once we were together and I got a call that my son needed his lunch. I had an appointment to go to but she went to Panera, purchased a lunch for my son, and took it to his school. That’s just one example of her giving spirit despite the fact that she was on her own time crunch. I will forever be touched by her spirit and grace.. God bless you all and peace of the Lord.

Deena was my favorite teacher at the State Ballet of Missouri School. I loved to see her perform and she was one of my favorite ballerinas in the company that I looked up to. She was always so sweet, helped me tremendously in class and had such a beautiful spirit. I will miss her very much. May she dance with the angels and Mr. Bolender now in heaven.
