Elaine Weber Cunningham

Elaine Weber Cunningham died on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at her home in Apex, NC.

Elaine was born in Graceville, Minnesota on April 23, 1936. She lived in Zeeland, ND for a short time. In 1941 she moved with her family to Hector, Minnesota where she attended grade and high school graduating as the valedictorian of her class in 1954. She graduated from St. Cloud Hospital School of Nursing in 1957. She married Doug Cunningham May 7, 1960 at Hector, Minnesota.

She worked in St. Cloud, Minnesota, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Mt. Holly, NJ, Dickinsons St. Joseph’s Hospital and Job Corps. She moved to Bismarck, ND in 1967 where she worked at Med Center, Mandan and St. Alexius Hospitals. She was instrumental in introducing the Fetal Monitor and helped found the ICU Nursery at St. Alexius. In 1975 she joined the staff of Century High School as a teacher of Certified Nurses Assistance program and Health Occupation Classes. In 1985 she resigned this position to care for her ill mother.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, R.J. and Agnes Weber of Hector, Minnesota.

She enjoyed her family, home, gardening and the beauty of nature. Elaine is survived by her husband of 56 years, Douglas T. Cunningham; son, Tim Cunningham and wife, DeAnn; daughter, Elizabeth Cunningham; brother, Darrell Weber; and four grandchildren, Shannon Vought, Douglas Vought, Katie Cunningham and Alex Cunningham.
