Elizabeth Hanlon Crown

Elizabeth Hanlon Crown, 69 of Cary, NC passed away on March 11, 2011. Betty was a native of the Washington, DC area. Betty is the daughter of the late Thomas B. and Catherine L. Hanlon. She is the sister of Catherine Ann Carnevali (deceased) and Thomas B. Hanlon of Panama. Betty attended Marymount School in Richmond, VA and was then married to John R. Crown, II in 1963. They were married for 47 years until Jack’s death in August 2009. Betty was a longtime member of St. Jane Frances DeChantal parish in Bethesda, MD.

Betty was a loving mother to her five children: Patrick (deceased, 1992), Brigid Sholtis (Paul) of Cary, NC, Mary Moore of Smithsburg, MD, Joan Crown of Smithsburg, MD and Thomas Crown (Jennifer) of San Antonio, TX. Betty is also survived by 8 grandchildren: Michael Lawrence, Billy Lawrence, Kaitlyn Fauntleroy, Katie Sholtis, Matt Sholtis, Mary Beth Sholtis, Annie Sholtis and Colleen Sholtis.

A funeral mass will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at St. Jane Frances de Chantal parish in Bethesda, MD followed by an inurnment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring, MD at 1:00PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Catholic Charities of NC.
