

Eloise Jane Johnson, age 93, passed away on Sunday, January 19,2025 in the care of Transitions Life Care in Raleigh, North Carolina. Born on August 17, 1931, in New Castle, Pennsylvania; she was the first daughter of the late Ermin Sallmen and Anna Kenstler Sallmen.
Eloise Johnson was raised and spent her childhood in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois.
After graduation from Hyde Park High School, she attended Great Lakes Bible Institute in Great Lakes, Illinois where she met and married Jack L. Roe from the Alton, Illinois area. After the passing of Mr. Roe, she moved her three children back to the Chicago area to be close to her parents. Eloise was a faithful member of the Stone Church – of the Assemblies of God in the Chicago area where she met and married King David Johnson with his two children. This new family moved to Worth, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago where all the children were raised. Upon retirement she moved to Bradenton, Florida with her husband until his passing and in 2020 moved to Holly Springs, NC to be near her son and his family.
Eloise loved to go bowling and she participated in many local bowling leagues. Additionally, she became an avid Chicago Cubs baseball fan and loved going to Cubs games in person and was faithful to watch every game on television. She knew the whole team by name and their statistics. She loved listening to Gospel Quartet music and her favorite artists were Bill Gaither and the Gaither Vocal Band and the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir.
She is lovingly remembered by her son: Mark Roe and spouse, Julie Roe of Holly Springs, NC; daughter: Colleen Roe-Valleau of Palatine, IL; son: Timothy C. Roe and spouse Teri Roe of Martinsburg, W. VA; son: David A. Johnson and spouse Tammy Johnson of Palmetto, FL; daughter: Lynn Bester and spouse David Bester of Farmington, MN; son: Donald Johnson and spouse Jodi Johnson of Menomonie, WI. Eloise had the awesome privilege of having 19 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Eloise Johnson was predeceased by spouses: Reverend Jack L Roe and King David Johnson; by her sisters: Evelyn Helm, Karen Thomas; brother: Donald Sallmen; and by her son-in-law: Robert Valleau.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, January 25, 2025 from 12 Noon until 2:00 pm at Apex Funeral Home. Funeral Services will begin at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel, followed by entombment at Raleigh Memorial Park Mausoleum in Raleigh, NC.
