Erin Nicole Harvey of Holly Springs, NC, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 30th, 2023 while on vacation in Amelia Island, FL. Erin was only 40 years old. She was born June 19th, 1983 to Steve and Terry Picarella. Erin grew up in Apex and was a graduate of Apex High School and Meredith College, where she obtained a degree in Education. She proudly wore her Meredith ring everywhere she went.
Erin married her husband, Justin Harvey, on April 27th, 2013 in Wrightsville Beach, NC. Soon after, they had their first child, Campbell Harvey (age 10) and followed by their second, Jackson Harvey (Age 8). They attend Hope Community Church in Apex, NC.
Erin’s happiness came from her two children. They were her world and she lived every day making sure they were loved and cared for in the best way possible. Erin lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; chatting with her family and friends, being a dance and sports mom, snuggling her dog Putter, and spending time with her nieces and nephews. Prior to marriage, Erin worked for years in early education, starting at the local YMCA with her mom, then moving into Daycare at locations including The Growing Years and Goddard. Education was always a passion of Erin’s. After marriage, Erin decided to dedicate her time to her family, becoming an incredible stay-at-home mom. However, she recently started working at the Lilly Pulitzer store in North Hills and was really enjoying getting back into the workplace. She loved her Lilly and talking to other people about patterns and new releases. She reached people in a deep and positive way, and many people remember her kindness towards other people, which could be reflected in her eyes.
She is survived by her husband, Justin, their children Campbell and Jackson; her parents Steven and Terry Picarella; her sister Casey Laird and her husband Jeff; her brother Ryan Picarella and his wife Fabiola; and her four nieces and nephews, Anderson Ramirez Perez (11), Peyton Laird (8), Carter Laird (4), Anderson Mayo (3); and her dog Putter.
There will be a memorial service this Sunday, January 7, 2024 at Apex Funeral Home at 2:00 pm, with visitation hour to follow where people will be welcome to get up and speak or share stories of their memories of Erin, or to just have fellowship with the family. Erin’s family would like for the service to be a celebration of her life, as we know she is in heaven celebrating with Jesus.
