George was born on May 20, 1938, in Detroit, Michigan, to George and Marie Kase. He later made his home in Newtown, Connecticut, where he and his family lived for more than 45 years and formed many lasting friendships within the community and St. Rose Parish.
He served his country in the United States Marine Corps as a pilot, attaining the rank of Major. During his military career he served in Vietnam and proudly flew the F-4 Phantom, A-4 Intruder and F9F Panther. Following his military service, he continued his passion for aviation as a corporate pilot for General Electric, where he flew for many years until his retirement.
Beyond his military service, George was deeply devoted to his faith and family. A lifelong Catholic, he was actively involved in his church and shared his love of music as a member of the choir and was a 55-year member of the Knights of Columbus. While his children attended St. Rose School, he was appointed the President of the PTA. He also coached both his sons and his daughter in baseball and softball. He valued community, tradition, and the importance of faith throughout his life.
George shared a loving marriage with his wife, Faith Elizabeth Kase, and together they built a family that was the center of his life. He was a proud and devoted father to Richard (wife, Michelle), David (wife, Michelle), and Elizabeth (partner, Paul Duffy).
His greatest joy was being a grandfather to Hannah, Nicole, Steven, Matthew (deceased), Genevieve, Andrew, Sarah, and Evan. He cherished each of them deeply and took immense pride in watching them grow.
He is also survived by his brother Roland Kase (partner, Richard Grommon) and was preceded in death by his brother Michael Kase (wife, deceased, Yvonne).
George’s life was defined by service, faith, and devotion to his family. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched and, in the values, he instilled in those who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 26, at 10:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at Mother Teresa Catholic Church, 1125 Mother Teresa Drive, Cary, North Carolina. A reception will follow the Mass. In honor of his military service, George will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, George would have wanted to follow in his grandson Matt’s lead and request donations be made to the Florida Aquarium. Donate here at https://www.flaquarium.org/gift-give/donate/general-donations/
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
