

“Jim” was born September 2, 1934 to the late James E. Hogan and Hazel A. Todd Hogan. A graduate of Lehigh University in Bethlehem PA, and Drexel University in Philadelphia, he held Bachelor’s degrees in Electrical Engineering, and Engineering Physics and a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. He was a Principal Engineer for Honeywell Process Solutions in Fort Washington for his entire professional career. He was a member of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Hilltown, PA for over 25 years, serving there in many capacities including as a member of the church choir. In 1996 he and his wife of 57 years, Mary Lou, relocated to the Outer Banks of NC, where they lived for 19 years. They both became active members of Colington Methodist Church, serving and also singing there in the choir. In 2015, after the death of his wife, he relocated to Cary, NC to be near his daughters. He spent the remainder of his days at Sunrise of Cary Assisted living where he passed peacefully surrounded by family.
James was preceded in death by his parents, James E. and Hazel A., his wife Marylou and his sister, Martha Darling and an infant granddaughter, Rachel Hogan.
Jim loved the outdoors and during life he was an avid skier and backpacker. In later years, he and Mary Lou competed in the Senior Games for Roller Dancing. And he loved to sing. In addition to the Glee Club in college, and his membership in the church choir, he was member of the “Concert Chorale of the Outer Banks” under the direction of Forest Warren. During retirement, he was active as a community volunteer, working with the local food pantry and delivering for meals on wheels.
He is survived by his son, James Andrew Hogan, Jr. and his wife, Beth of Halifax, PA; daughters, Cheryl Koch and her husband, Kenneth of Apex, NC; and Kim Rossi and her husband, Mark of Chapel Hill, NC; ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at Philadelphia Memorial Park in Frazer, PA on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 11:00 a.m.
