James "Jimmy" Ragan Jr.

Jimmy was born December 7, 1941 in Apex, NC to the late James Milton Ragan and Marie Mills Ragan. He was a graduate of Apex High School and a veteran of the US Army. Jimmy served his community as Police Chief of Apex and 32 year veteran of the Apex Volunteer Fire Department. He was also influential in establishing the Apex Rescue Squad. Jimmy was a member of Woodhaven Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Ragan.

Jimmy is survived by his wife of 50 years, Eloise Holt Ragan; daughters, Lisa Ragan, and Sheila Ragan Perry; brothers, Joe Ragan (Jane); and J.D. Denson; grandchildren, Nathan Perry, Hannah Ammon, J.T. Ammon, and Jesse Ammon.

A funeral service will be held 12pm Friday, March 18, 2022 at Apex Funeral Home Chapel, 550 W. Williams St., Apex, NC 27502. Burial will follow the service at Apex Cemetery. The family will receive friends 10am - 12pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
