Josephine Romeo Kitchura

Josephine Romeo Kitchura, 95 yr old, of Raleigh, NC passed away peacefully on Sunday March 22, 2026. She was the widow of the late, Michael Kitchura, who died Sunday January 18, 2009, after an illness. They were married 58 years in 2009.

Josephine was born in Mayfield, PA daughter of the late John Cosmo and Vincenza (Pucci) Romeo. An active member of St Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church of Apex, she was a bulletin organizer and faithfully prayed the rosary daily. She was a seamstress for many years and loved to sew. She was preceded in death by six brothers; Tony, Joseph, Johnny, Jim, and Francis Romeo, Frank Rotella and seven sisters Joya Klansek, Anna Brooks, Yolanda Lubinsky, Lucy O’Bell, Rose Jennings, Mary Dardis and Kay Whitelock. Josephine was the youngest.

Surviving are her daughter and caregiver, MaryClare Prasnikar of Fuquay Varina, NC, and three sons, Andrew and wife Kathleen Kitchura of Rocklin, Ca, Joseph and wife, Nida Kitchura of Burlingame, Ca and John and wife Karen Kitchura of Fairport, New York She has five grandchildren: Christina Martinez, Melissa Torres, Lauren Dupre, Christopher Kitchura and John Michael Kitchura: six great grandchildren Levi, Lucia, Liliana Torres, Fitzie Mule-Kitchura, Mackensie Dupre and Penelope Kitchura.

A funeral mass will be celebrated by Father John Durbin on May 1, 2026 at 11 am at St Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church 3008 Old Raleigh Rd Apex, NC. Inurment will be in the church columbarium.
