

Keith Edward Albertson, 89, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, February 3, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 1, 1935, in Quincy, Illinois, to the late Ralph Orson Albertson and Mildred Eva Kohl Albertson. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Robert Albertson.
A proud U.S. Navy veteran, Keith traveled the world aboard the USS Essex aircraft carrier. One of his most memorable events was serving in radio communications for “Operation Northwest Passage” – the first crossing of the North Pole by a submarine.
On Valentine’s Day in 1970, Keith proposed to Elizabeth “Liz” Mae Payton. After an 18-week courtship, they were married and shared nearly 55 years of love and cherished memories together.
A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Keith was deeply committed to his family. He instilled strong values in his children, teaching them the importance of hard work, independence, and integrity. His wisdom and humor were ever-present, whether through his storytelling or his practical advice.
Keith was an active member of All Saints Anglican Church in Raleigh, NC. He was also a talented musician and artist, earning a master’s degree in music education. He directed and performed in multiple instrumental groups, sang in various ensembles including church choirs, community choirs, and the Barbershop Harmony Society. Passionate about theater, he performed in several productions such as One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Oklahoma and Jacques Brel Is Alive and Well and Living in Paris.
Keith is survived by his beloved wife, Liz; daughter Mary Albertson of Holly Springs, NC; son Michael Albertson and wife Kathleen of Endwell, NY; grandchildren Kristopher and Ashley Albertson of Endwell, NY; nephew Bob Albertson and wife Jan of Glen Ellyn, IL; niece Jan and husband Ray MacKown of Palm Coast, FL; and many extended family members and friends.
Keith’s kindness, warmth, and unwavering love for his family will be deeply missed.
