Kriss was born on September 30, 1945 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to the late Boyd and Audre King. She lived in the same house in Bellevue throughout her childhood, just two doors down from what would later become her first husband, Bud Benscoter.
While in Pittsburgh, Kriss worked as a secretary for US Steel. She retained a love for Pittsburgh her entire life and had a chance to visit her hometown one last time in 2022. In 1995, Kriss and her second husband, Rodney Faubel, moved from Syracuse, NY to Cape Coral, FL. They enjoyed their waterfront home and boating activities with their many friends. While in Florida, Kriss’s career shifted to helping people recover unclaimed personal property across the USA. Her skills in research, organization and persistence were a blessing for many families.
Forever a pet lover, Kriss welcomed cats and dogs of all shapes and sizes into her home, including strays or shelter rescues. Her Yorkie Bijou lived an amazing 18 years under her loving care, and she will be dearly missed by her 10-year old cat Abby (now with her daughter).
In addition to her parents, Kriss is preceded in death by Rodney Faubel. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Shelly (Benscoter) Ryder, son-in-law Duane Ryder, and friends in both Florida and the Raleigh, NC area where she lived since 2020.
A memorial service will be held in her honor on Friday, February 2, 2024 at 11:00 am at Apex Funeral Home.
In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions may be donated to SAFE Haven for Cats, the animal rescue from which she adopted Abby. https://www.safehavenforcats.org
