Lois Thornton Welsh

Lois Thornton Welsh, age 84, of Fuquay Varina, North Carolina passed away on Wednesday, October 23, 2024. Born on September 4, 1940 in Carnegie, Pennsylvania; she was the daughter of the late Merle and Clarabelle Thornton and was the wife of the late John Robert "Bob" Welsh.

Lois was a loving mom, grandmother, friend, neighbor, and nurse, but most importantly, she was a devoted wife and the heart of our family. She liked to sew and do smocking (many of her smocked baby clothes were gifted with much love) and she liked to garden. She loved us deeply and was our greatest encourager and supporter. From Sunday family dinners (she was an excellent cook) to Christmas Eve traditions and birthdays, she celebrated each of us in her own special way, making every moment unforgettable. She was there for every milestone and every quiet moment in between, filling our lives with joy and a love beyond measure.

She is survived by her two children and their families: Shawna W. Nash and husband Rudy and Marty Welsh and wife Michele; grandchildren: Brittney Jennings (husband Jayson Jennings), Blaine Welsh, Brogan Welsh, Bailey Martinez (husband Chris Martinez), Braedon Welsh, and Breck Welsh; and by other extended family and friends.

Lois was also preceded in death by her stepmother, Sara Thornton; sister, Genevieve Stetor; brother-in-law, Erwin Stetor; and brother, Ray Thornton.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at 2:00 pm at the St. Bernadette Catholic Parish of Fuquay-Varina, with a Reception to follow at church.
