

She is remembered as a loving mother, a wonderful Southern cook and a long time employee of the former Hudson Belk department store on Fayetteville Street in Raleigh.
Born January 28, 1915, in Stem, N.C., the daughter of Edward and Annie Morgan, Lottie moved to western Wake County when she was five years old. She worked at Hudson Belk for 38 years, retiring when the store closed in 1995. She loved her job, her family and her church. In turn, she was beloved for her patience, positive spirit and unfailing hospitality.
Lottie is preceded in death by her husband, Reuben; son, Robert Edward; and daughter, Susan. She is survived by a sister, Lois Spain: daughters Helen Holleman, Linda Batchelor and Janie Sanders: daughter-in-law Mary Pugh Overton; son-in-law Charles Batchelor; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be December 18, 2pm-3pm, with a service beginning at 3 pm in the Apex Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Apex Cemetery.
Flowers are appreciated. Memorials may be made to Pleasant Plains Baptist Church, 1802 Old US Highway S, Apex, N.C. 27502-7763, or to a Hospice of one’s choice.
