

Margaret Ann "Peggy" Ward of Apex, NC died Saturday, January 7th, 2012 at Blue Ridge Healthcare Center, Raleigh, NC. She was preceded in death by her husband Cdr. Robert Furman Ward, her sister Elinor Thurlow, and a granddaughter, Hannah Claire Bolton.
She was born in Delaware County, PA, on Dec. 5, 1931 to John Craig and Helen White Janney. She and her husband served their country in the US Navy. She was a charter member of the Women in Military Service for America Memorial Foundation and is honored on their Memorial Wall in Arlington, VA. She was a world traveler, an avid reader, and enjoyed crossword puzzles and bridge. Peggy had a kind and generous heart, donating her time and resources to many charitable organizations. She was always willing to help a friend in need. She will be deeply missed by so many whose lives she touched.
Mrs. Ward is survived by her daughter, Sherri Ward Bolton, her son-in-law Bob Bolton, and grandchildren, Cassie, Parker, Bryce and Bailey, all of Apex. She is also survived by her son, Mark Ward of Auburn, AL, and grandchildren, Lindsay Ward of Philadelphia, PA, Nicholas Ward of Fort Worth, TX, and Courtni Ward of Auburn, AL.
The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
