Mary Susan Barbero

Mary worked as a registered nurse and nursing administrator first at Memorial Hospital in Cumberland, MD and then at Highsmith-Rainey Memorial Hospital which became Cape Fear Valley Highsmith-Rainey Specialty Hospital in Fayetteville, NC.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Waneta Mae Stein and father, James William Stein.

Mary is lovingly remembered by her husband of over 61 years, Ricardo Bruce Barbero; daughters, Stefani Michelle Barbero and Mary Beth Barbero Ayres; granddaughters, Emma Nicole Ayres and Olivia Gail Thornton Barbero; and brothers, James Stein and wife Kathy Stein, and David Stein and wife Janice Stein.

Mary loved swimming and the beach and was very devoted to her family. She was especially happy when spending time with her granddaughters.

The family would like to thank the staff of Transitions LifeCare and caregiver Ethel Thompson for the care and compassion they showed our loved one in their final days.

In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions can be donated to Transitions LifeCare of Raleigh, NC or to the American Cancer Society in honor of Mary.
