Melvin Laverne Yates

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Walter Glenn Yates, Willie Vann Yates, G.A. Yates, and Clabon Yates.

Melvin is survived by his beloved sister, Doris Upchurch and six nieces and nephews.

Melvin was a very special person who loved everyone he met. He was known for his kindness and especially loved celebrating his birthday with his family.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at Green Level Baptist Church Cemetery, Cary, NC. Melvin will lie in state Tuesday, June 27, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at Apex Funeral Home, Apex, NC.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff of O'Berry Center for their kind and loving care they provided to Melvin throughout the years.
