Michael Joseph Ryan

Michael Joseph Ryan, 62, of Cary, died at home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, October 23, 2013. Mike was born in Watertown, MA on March 28, 1951 to Kenneth Joseph Ryan and Margaret Gillis Ryan. He graduated from UMass Boston furthering his education by receiving a Masters Degree in Physics from UMass Amherst and a second Masters Degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Lowell. Mike began his 34 year career with IBM in Burlington, VT later moving with his family to Cary in 1984.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Kate Ryan; daughters: Moira Ryan of Portland, OR, Erin Rainsmyth and husband, Skip of Portland, OR, and Caitlin Ryan of Seattle, WA; brothers: Kenneth Ryan and wife, Seiko of Seattle, WA, and Kevin Ryan and Fiancée , Kelly Farah of Watertown, MA; sister: Jane McEachern and husband, Joe of Waltham, MA; and his cherished grandson, Devon Rainsmyth. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be a Celebration of Mike’s Life at 2:00 PM Sunday, October 27, 2013 at Apex Funeral Home, 550 W. Williams St., Apex. There will be a reception for family and friends following the service at Apex Funeral Home.
