

Olga Tina Rigel of Bronx, NY, Huntington, NY, Newmanstown, PA and most recently Fuquay-Varina, NC passed away on Monday May 19th, 2025, at the age of 86. She was born on November 27th, 1938, in Bronx, NY where she grew up in a close-knit Italian neighborhood.
She attended PS89 Elementary School (K-8) and graduated from Christopher Columbus High School in 1956.
She worked at New York Life Insurance Company in New York City for 14 years as a Clerical Assistant before raising her family. She returned to work in Huntington, NY as School Lunch Aide at Jefferson Elementary School where she spent 27 years as a much-cherished staff member before retiring.
She is preceded in death by her Parents Armand and Olga Tozzi.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Milan, daughter and son-in-law Olga Mary and Danny Barr, son and daughter-in-law Andrew and Amy Rigel, grandchildren Ryan and Kirsten Barr and Kaitlynn, Kayleigh, Jonathan and Kelsey Rigel as well as her sister Joan and husband Antonio Gangilli, and nieces Maria Hebert and Linda Afonso, sister-in-law Irene and husband Peter Woroby, and nieces Mary Ann Farrell and Christine Popovitch, as well as a wide circle of cousins.
In her early years she loved to travel, visiting Bermuda and the Bahamas, taking road-trips with her wider family up and down the East Coast as well as taking several trips to Europe, not least of which was her much discussed and cherished cruise around the Mediterranean in 1970.
She was an avid Hollywood and TV fan able to tell countless stories and recall movie trivia. She was well known to record all occasions with her disposable box cameras leaving behind hundreds of precious photo album memories.
The family would like to thank UNC Rex Hospital for the care and compassion they showed our loved one in her final hours.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, 625 Magdala Place, Apex, NC 27502 on Wednesday May 28th, 2025, at 11:00am. Visitation with the family will begin at 10:30am.
Inurnment to follow at the nearby columbarium at St. Mary Magdalene.
