In addition to his parents Purvis was predeceased by his brothers Delbert and Alford Howard.
Surviving are his daughters Portia Howard Asbridge (Anthony) of Raleigh and Dale Howard of Middlesex; son Neil Howard (Joni) of Rougemont; sisters Polly Moore (Harold) of Dunn, Fran Whitman of Erwin and Charlotte Miller (Frank) of Louisburg; grandchildren Dillon and Austin Howard; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Saturday November 13, 2010 from 1:00pm until 2:30pm at Apex Funeral Home 550 W. Williams St (Hwy 55), Apex, NC. The funeral service will be in the funeral home chapel at 2:30pm with Rev. Ron Brisson officiating. Burial will follow in Bells Baptist Church Cemetery.
