Rachel Goodwin Smith

Born in Wake County, NC on May 4, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Irvin Winslow and Nettie Topps Goodwin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, C. Larry Smith who passed away in 2010. She is also preceded in death by a sister, Myrtie Goodwin. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Olive Chapel Baptist Church in Apex, NC.

The funeral service for Mrs. Rachel Goodwin Smith will be conducted at 3:00 pm on Sunday, July 22, 2012 at the Olive Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Daniel Joyner officiating. Interment will follow in the Olive Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Apex Funeral Home.

Left to cherish her memories are her son; Alvis W. Smith and companion Dennis Williams of Fayetteville, NC; close family friend; Ann Robbinette of Knoxville, TN; caregiver; Lisa Plunkett of Apex, NC; a sister: Mildred Wood of Sanford, NC; a brother; Woodrow Goodwin and wife, Frances of New Hill, NC; and several nieces and nephews.
