

Richard was born March 3, 1945 to the late Rudolph Cecil and Mary Melba Gaudin Parker. Richard retired from the Air Force and returned to college to become an electronic technician. Richard was an enthusiastic sports fan and loved LSU and the New Orleans Saints. He enjoyed watching all three of his children play soccer. He was an avid bowler and pool player. Richard never met someone that didn’t immediately become a friend.
Richard was preceded in death by his late wife Cynthia Parker, his father Rudolph Cecil, his mother Melba, his brothers Phillip Ray Parker, Russell Irving Parker, and Ronald Wayne Parker.
He is survived by his beloved children, Bret Parker, Tessa Parker, Megan Parker Lamm (John Lamm), friend and former wife Jana Parker; his sister Dorothy DeRanger and brothers Ralph Parker and Charles “Ponchaux” Parker; grandchildren John “Trey” Lamm and Sabrina Lamm; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on November 5, 2016 in the Apex Funeral Home Chapel. A reception to celebrate Richard’s life will take place following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials in Richard’s name be made to the American Cancer Foundation.
