I just heard about Rolland and was quite saddened . Rolland and I were friends in college at NC State but lost contact a few years after we left primarily due to our far distance apart . My memories of Rolland were of a very smart and genuine guy . I was always impressed with his common sense reasoning and clear thinking . 
Of course I do have regrets in not keeping in touch but thought of him many times over the years .

I’ve known Rolland since the seventh grade, and we have been lifelong friends since.  We played junior high and high school sports together.  We attended NC State together and were roommates our sophomore years.  I have so many fond memories of our years together at NC State.  After graduation we became even closer, my wife and I attending countless Wolfpack games and going on numerous trips with Rolland and Ann.  I’ve had literally hundreds of phone conversations with Rolland over the years, the last one just two days before he left us.  Those conversations usually started with Wolfpack sports, our careers, or politics, but no matter how they started they always seemed to end with family. He was so proud of his family and would always update me with what was going on with Ann, Lindsay, Meredith, and of course the grandchildren.  He was a true friend and I’ll  miss those conversations and our time spent together.  We have lost a great son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and FRIEND.  I offer my sincere condolences to Ann, Lindsay, Meredith, and the entire family.  



My sincerest condolences to Rolland’s family – A good man gone too soon.   Rolland gave me my first real job opportunity in 1996 at Century Fasteners - 25 years later and counting that job has turned into a career - every day I use the lessons learned and the tools of the trade that Rolland freely shared to help be successful professionally as well as personally.   He was a leader, a mentor, the hardest working man in the room, the best golfer I've ever played a round with, and my friend.  

You will be missed Sir.

     I first met Rolland when we were freshman at N.C. State. We lived in the same dorm. Both of us had more interest in sports than school at that time. Several nights a week we found ourselves at Mitch's Tavern playing foosball. Rolland had the best wrist action of anybody I ever saw play the game. I  could rest assure that when he got the ball I would here that " tink" when the ball slammed into the opponents goal. Of course winners got a beer from the losers and we could drink all night for free. Later we were roommates our junior and senior year. He studied hard and went to grad school and made a great life for himself and his family. 
     We only saw each other occasionally after college, but I will say this world lost a great man. He was just an all around good guy.
I can still here that tink as I'm writing this.... I will miss him dearly.

I'm so sorry to hear of Rolland's passing. He was a great soccer dad and very tolerant of us girls getting underfoot and getting into trouble. He also did a very surrogate dad rescue for me in high school. I fell ill  on a long run and needed help getting home. This was before the time of cell phones, so I was able to find a public phone and I called the Pugh household as it was the only number I knew (my parents were not home). Rolland picked up, drove to get me, drove me home, and was Such A Dad about it, making sure I was ok before leaving me alone. He also called later (ok, made Ann call later) to make sure I was ok. He was a huge part of my childhood and will always have a place in my heart and memory. Sending all my love to his family. 

I had the glad to know Rolland 16 years ago more or less, he was an excelent leader who used to teach with all his experience, profesionalism and wisdom. He was an excelent visionary who dared and undertook our new mexican branch and until the end, he gave all his effort for Century. Is a sadness to know that he already departed. I send my deepest condolences to his family and I just thank Rolland for all your teachings. Have a nice trip Rolland, full of light and peace.

I feel a deep sadness for Rolland's passing. I met him 15 years ago and He was always a great leader and an exemplary person who liked to help others with kindness and patience. We will always remember him fondly. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Dear Ann, Lindsay and Meredith and your entire family, I am so sorry to hear about Rolland's passing, and saddened that he is gone too soon.  I met Rolland when he hired me at the Raleigh branch of Century Fasteners, where I had the privilege of working for THE best boss I ever had for 14 years.  I just can't believe he is gone.  Rolland was always professional, caring of his employees and fair.  I remember how proud he was of his family and spoke of Ann and his girls often.   My thoughts and prayers are with you in the coming days and may God give you peace and comfort during this time of grief.  

I had the pleasure of meeting Rolland more than 15 years ago, for me he was an excellent mentor, always ready to share his knowledge, an intelligent person with a beautiful soul, my condolences for his family.

I have many memories of and such appreciation for Rolland.  He took interest in my development as a manager at Century Fasteners, and offered honest advice on some personal issues.  Rolland was a great leader and always set the example for work ethics and professionalism.  Rolland was tough because he wanted you to always be at your best.  Most of all, he cared not only for us he employed, but he cared for our families.  I am forever thankful for his belief in me and the opportunities he gave me.  I enjoyed our conversations and the several laughs we shared throughout the years.  Great Memories!

Good day, this is Lydia Cortes of the Mexico branch, i met Rolland when he was here in Mexico sometimes, i think he was a really good person, smart, he always tried to find the solutions to problems thinking in a logical way, he said jokes, i think he was funny too. I want to let you know i feel very sorry for all you that are your family, now he is in another place, i think i better place and for you the good memories, i send you my really condolences.

I first met Rolland in 2000 when I was putting in a VMI with Century Fasteners in Canada.  From the first day I met Rolland, I knew he was a professional.  In 2003 I came to work at Century, relatively new to the fastener industry.  He guided me and was always available to bounce things off of.  His kindness, knowledge and leadership helped me tremendously, both professionally and personally.  His DNA is woven into the fabric of Century, both in process and people.  I am confident his memory will live forever.

Rolland was a great leader & mentor. We learned a lot from him.  He was so proud of his  family & happy to enjoy his grandikds  when retirement time arrived.  I am deeply saddened by the news of his loss.  My most sincere condolences.

I am stunned and saddened by the news of Rolland's passing. Rolland was no question the best boss that I have ever had, and I had the pleasure of working for him for more than 20 years. He was a mentor to me in sales, operations, and overall business etiquette.   Rolland believed in me at a time that I was young and unpolished, and he gave me the confidence and direction to be successful in the fastener industry and in life. I will miss his leadership in my life. I mourn with the family and pray for your comfort at his time. Rolland loved his family so much and they were such an important part of his approach to life.  We lift you up at this dark time and pray for peace in the midst the storm.

I will still remember the soccer dad and soccer coach. He was so patient with the young girls. I will bet there was a lot of eye rolling on all those trips to soccer fields with two girls in the back seat. Love to all the Pugh women.

I can't believe he has left us. Rolland was a God send to our company & Industry, he inspired everyone he touched and he touched a lot of us. I received a Merry Christmas & Happy New Years from him on the 16th and I will now keep that forever. I will miss him greatly and wish the best for his beloved family that I know meant the world to him.

I was very sorry to hear of Rolland's passing. It was blessing for me to have worked with Rolland, for over twenty five years. Rolland mentored many of us, encouraged us, and made us better. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Rolland became not only a friend but a trusted confidante .  If I had a problem, I always knew I could call him for sound advice, or just to listen to me vent. I was very sad to hear of the loss of Rolland. He was a mentor, a friend and a colleague for nearly 40 years. I know how much his family and particularly his grandchildren were always in the forefront of his thoughts. He was so proud of his daughters and his lovely wife and loved them all so much. My deepest condolences and please know this family is in my thoughts and prayers.
