It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald Santo Angilello, who departed this life peacefully at the age of 86 on Friday June 6, 2025. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, he leaves behind a legacy of service, passion, and unwavering love for his family and community. Born in Bronx, New York, Ronald graduated from Mount Vernon High School and continued his education at Westchester Community College. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps Reserves for 8 years. A dedicated employee, he spent 41 years working for IBM, where he formed lifelong friendships and took great pride in his work.
A man of many interests, Ronald found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He had a deep love for collecting—trains, cars, boats, fire trucks, stamps, and coins—and shared these hobbies with enthusiasm. He was happiest spending time outdoors, particularly at the shooting range with his son John and grandson Christopher, or out fishing whenever he had the chance. He gave generously of his time and talents to his community, serving as a volunteer Fire Chief in Rye, NY, and as a longtime usher at Resurrection Church in Rye and later at St. Michaels in Apex, NC. His faith was a guiding light in his life.
Above all, Ronald cherished his family. He was lovingly known as “Grampy” by his six grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life. He is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Marcia; his children: John (Carolyn) of Apex, NC; David of Port Chester, NY; Robert “Bob” (Virginia) of Randolph, NJ; and Regina of Rye Brook, NY. He is also survived by his six beloved grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Alfred and Joseph, and his sister Marie.
Ronald's warmth, generosity, and steady presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him. A life well-lived, and a legacy that will continue through all those he loved.
A memorial service for Ronald will be held Monday, June 9, 2025 at 3:00 PM at Apex Funeral Home, 550 W Williams St, Apex, NC 27502, followed by a reception at 4:00 PM.
