I was so sorry to hear of Ruth's death.
I too served with Ruth at our local nursing home as a Eucharistic Minister. She was so compassionate and loving to the residents and truly brought the love of Christ to them. Ruth provided a light and caring to those who were in the last days of their lives.  God rest her soul.  My deepest sympathy and condolences to her family.

There are so many thoughts and emotions clouding my heart and mind, where do I begin?  How do you express what an amazing part of your life someone has always been?  So many of my memories are full of your joy, laughter and incredible spirit.  From our personal cakes when we were young, to the "happy feet dance", to all those troll dolls I had to look at every day in my room!  But nothing can compare to all the family vacations at the beach.  I take comfort in knowing I have these memories to keep you with me.  I am so grateful my kids had the opportunity to create their own memories with you.  They will treasure them forever.  So many lives have been touched, we are all blessed to have been part of your life and legacy.  You are dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all.  May you watch over us every day. I have been trying to figure out how to express into words how it feels to lose not only my sister, but my best friend. How do you pour out your heart and express the years and years of smiles, laughter, joy, days at the beach and the tears of heartache you shared every step of the way. How do you say good bye to the person you turned to for advice, a shoulder to cry on or just a great hug to make the world so much better. I dont know how and probably never will. Ruth was the best of the best. She taught me how to hold my head up when I wanted to give up. Ruth was just a smile, encouragement and strength. I dont know if I can learn to live without her. I will just borrow her little trick,,,she is not really gone, just far away for now.  I love you girl...you promised..watch over me.

I would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers during this time of great loss.  My mom was such a graceous and caring person.  She wanted to try and make everyone happy and would do anything for anyone.  She was graceous in both life and death.  Please know that she would just love reading all of your notes and is probably laughing at a few as well.  Even though I miss her everyday I am so glad she is painfree and in Heaven with Sean and dad.  Thank you again for all of your thoughts, it is so kind.

 We loved Ruth with all of our hearts. 
Everyone loved Ruth.  She was the kindest person I am sure we will ever meet. We are so deeply saddened but know there is a special place in Heaven

What a tragic loss.  Please accept our condolences.  Ruth was such a wonderful neighbor and friend for over 18 years.  I babysat her granddaughter, Ashley. Her granddaughter and my daughter were only 10 days apart.  Even though she moved away many years ago, they still keep in touch and will be BFF.  You will always be in our hearts and prayers.

I had the privilege of working with Ruth for a few years here at Battelle and to say she was a great and fun lady to have around, is an understatement.  We had so many fun lunches with Dan, Tom, and David.  She will be sadly missed.  My condolences to her family.

You were truly an amazing woman. You were very strong and a blast to be around. You are truly missed and will forever be in our hearts. Linda and  Dot I am so sorry for the loss of your sister. She was truly amazing. I am so glad that we all go to spend Christmas with her.

We send our condolences to the entire McDermott family.  We were so lucky to have spent time with Ruth and your family, Kevin.  She exemplified what it meant to be a mother, grandmother,  and I personally admired her as she was a very strong and faithful woman.  We will always remember how happy she was and what joy she found and brought to everyone around her.

We were sad today to read in the Philadelphia Inquirer of Ruth's passing.  She was a wonderful person and we shared many good times with Ruth and Rick years ago.  They were in our wedding of April, 1966.  
It is appropriate that her funeral Mass will be on St. Patrick's Day.  Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with the McDermott family.

Ruth and I worked together at Battelle. She always reached out to others and was a welcoming presence. She was valued not just as a very competent secretary but as much or more because of her warm personality. My sympathy goes to all of her family. I hope you have many wonderful memories to comfort you.

Ruth's memory will leave lasting imprints on many hearts. Her ability to smile through her tears was a testimony to her deep faith. She brought joy to many of us at Battelle and will never be forgotten.  May He send His peace and comfort to all of you, until your reunion in His presence.

When you work alongside someone for any period of time - you get to know them as much for who they are as what they do. Ruth very much knew who she was: a person dedicated without fail to her faith and her family. While we enjoyed many celebrations with her like each new marriage and each new grandchild, we shared in her trials and tribulations as she experienced some unfathomable challenges and losses during her time with us at Battelle. We all know that she is reveling in her time to now be reunited with those that she loved and missed so deeply. Rest in peace, Ruth. You earned it. My condolences to her beloved family.
