Sally grew up in Olympia, Washington and spent her early years working in her mother’s restaurant that served the residents of Olympia. Through those early years, Sally found her true passion and gift: forming relationships with people. This gift served her well throughout the various stages of her life and continued to be one of her resounding qualities throughout her later years. This quality proved especially fruitful while attending a dance on April Fools’ Day, where she met her future husband John; they were later married on February 17, 1968. They lived for over 20 years in Federal Way, Washington raising their children before relocating in 1994 to Cary, NC for her husband’s corporate relocation. Sally brought her love of people cross country, and slowly but surely started forming relationships with neighbors, shop owners, and others in the community-making Cary her home. Sally loved caring for her husband, children, and grandchildren and enjoyed sewing baby blankets for expecting families, gardening, and cooking.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years John J. Oldham of Cary, NC, her oldest son Stephen P. Oldham and his wife Michelle of Kent, WA, her daughter Tereasa M. Oldham of Cary, NC, her youngest son Christopher J. Oldham and his wife Josephine and two granddaughters Eleanor and Florence of Cary, NC.
A visitation will be held from 6-8PM Tuesday, July 7th, at Apex Funeral Home. A private burial with the family will follow on July 8th.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Transitions LifeCare (Hospice) at 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607.
