She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Dr. Andrew Pickens; daughters: Elizabeth Ellington and husband Larry of Apex, Andrea Young and husband, Danny of Raleigh, Susan Harrod of Morrisville; sisters: Betty Pickens of Anderson, SC, Ruth Hatchet of Thomaston, GA, Rachelen Johnson of Hartwell, GA, and Ann Davis of Dewey Rose, GA; 6 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and 5 step great grandchildren.
Mrs. Pickens is preceded in death by her granddaughter, Kimberly Harrod.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 PM Thursday, July 12, 2012 at Apex Funeral Home, 550 W. Williams St., Apex. A Celebration of Her Life will begin at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Apex Funeral Home. Burial will be in Apex Cemetery.
