It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Anita "Annie" Britten (Houlemarde). Born on April 7, 1952, to Nellie and Lou Houlemarde, and known to many as Annie or Nita, she passed away on February 5, 2025. A generous soul, loving mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great aunt, Annie lived her life with a quiet nature. Always showing kindness and warmth.
She is survived by her two daughters, Rachel Bicondova and Laura Britten-Kamiyama; her sons-in-law, Tommy Bicondova, and Steven Kamiyama; her grandchildren, Dylan Bicondova, Matthew, Amelia, and Connor Kamiyama. She leaves behind her brothers, Loudovic and Edmunde Houlemarde, her sister Janine Houlemarde, her nieces, Gretchen Red Elk and Melissa Houlemarde, and her nephews, Lou Robert, John, Daniel, Mark, and Paul Houlemarde. Annie was predeceased by her beloved husband, Bill Britten.
Annie was a graduate of Blair High School, Pasadena, California, Class of 1970. In 1982, she married her greatest love, Bill Britten and soon after brought a new baby girl, Rachel, into the world. They decided to journey up to the High Desert to start a new life for their family which soon would include another baby girl, Laura. Years flew by and the girls grew up. They filled their homes with love and laughter and lots of animals. Annie found her passions in gardening and then later in life, photography.
In 2010, Annie lost her greatest love, Bill, to cancer. They had been married for 27 years and she was heart-broken. The loss was lessened over the next 2 years with the birth of her three grandchildren and just like that she was Grandma. She spent the next decade of her life with her children and theirs, making memories with beach trips, pool parties, and family dinners with her siblings.
In November of 2024, Annie received the news no one wants to hear. She had Stage 4 Cancer. She fought with all that she had, surrounded by all that loved her, to the very end. On the morning of Wednesday, February 5th, encircled by the love of her two daughters, Annie went home to be with the angels and Bill.
Annie will always be remembered as that vibrant fun-loving soul who loved and cared for so many. Her Celebration of Life will be on March 21st, 2025 at 11am at Sunset Hills Memorial Park and Mortuary.
