

Blanche Marguerite 'Ticky' Tibbetts Carter, 93, of Apple Valley, CA born Sept 13, 1923 in Portland, Maine and raised in Durham, Maine, has gone home to be with her Lord and Savior, on Thursday June 8, 2017.
Her father gave nicknames to all ten of his children and Blanche's fun moniker is the only one that stuck. When she graduated from elementary school, as was the custom, went to live in Farmington with her grandparents, William Henry and Carrie M. Durrell Alexander, to attend high school. After graduating from Farmington High School in June 1942, Blanche moved to Sapmson Naval Base in Buffalo, New York to help her sister, Dotty Halligan. It was during this time that she met her future husband, USN Arthur Wood Carter, Electricians Mate First Class. On March 13, 1943 they were married by Rev Boyd of the Methodist Church in Geneva NY, honeymooning at nearby Niagara Falls.
When WWII ended they moved to California where art was employed by the Los Angeles Police Department. During this time the young couple bought their first home in the town of Gardena where they raised 3 children. She sewed clothes for them to wear, taught Sunday school at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, worked for many years in the aerospace industry, and baked more cookies, cake, and pies than most. She was very interested in geneology, and joined joined the High Desert Gneology clun spending many years in discovering her ancestors. Much of what she learned she put into print as newsletters and subsequently into two hard bound books titled “Tibbetts Talk” and Ticky’s Memories & Musings”, Alexander, Durreell, Fraser, and Tibbetts are just a few names in her line who proudly help settle our great country.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 59 years, Art Carter Sr. on aug 18. 2002; her father, Alonzo Mayberry Tibbetts of Old Orchard Beach, ME in 1943; her mother, Gladys Marvett Alexander of Portland, ME in 1988; her brothers Kenneth Milton Tibbetts, Glenn Roy Tibbetts, Milton Alonzo Tibbetts; sisters Dorothy Mae Christianson, Gladys Marjorie Chapman, Lorraine Tibbetts and Step-Father, Richard Jordan Stiles of Oxford, ME.
Survivors include her sisters Pearl M Sawyer of Auburn, ME and Elaine Merrill of New Gloucester, ME; her son Arthur W. Carter Jr. of Apple Valley, CA; her daughter, Janet L (L Marvin) Dawson of Chattanooga, TN; daughter Gloria J )David) Taylor of Coarsegold, CA ; more a daughter than a niece Katherine E (Wayne) Tibbetts Larson of Couer d’Laine, ID; Grandchildren, Shannon M. Kaminsky of Gunnison, CO, John Arndt ‘Skeeter’ Erikson IV of Clovis, CA, Jeanna Marguerite Erickson-Schweikert of Clovis, CA; Andrew Wilson Carter od Beatty, NV; Sarah J Carter of Coquille, OR; Stephanie Carter of Juneau, AK; 8 great-grandchildren and nymourous nieces and nephews alldearly loved by her.m
Graveside funeral services will be held Thursday June 22, 2017 at 10:30 AM.
