Carlos Tyrone Nunley II was born and raised by his parents, Carlos Tyrone Nunley Sr. and Jeanette Randolph, with the help of his grandparents, Samuel and Jeanette Randolph and Esther Cooper. He was the eldest of four children: Carlos Tyrone, Jeanette Victoria, Charles André, and Janette Marie Nunley.
Carlos matriculated and developed through his education starting with Manzanita Head Start, Tamarisk, Sunset View and Daisy Gibson elementary schools. He was promoted and graduated from Almondale Middle School. He also promoted and graduated from Littlerock High School, where he maintained Principal’s Honor Roll every semester. He was then accepted and attended Cal State University Northridge while studying music. He then transferred to Bryman College where he graduated with a certificate as a Dental Assistant. He was both a student, as well as an employee.
Carlos was very active in his high school years at Littlerock High School. He participated in band where he sat as first chair. He masterfully played Tenor Saxophone. As band leader, he lead as Drum Major for one year. Carlos auditioned and was accepted in the Official Pasadena Rose Parade Band, where he played second chair, Tenor Saxophone.
He worked for Screen Actors Guild, SAG, until he transferred to Grizzly Flats, California. Carlos loved being in the mountains, where he could hear the running lakes. He would always call his family and send pictures of what he would wake up to on any given morning, such as wild turkeys or deer. He would send pictures of his first home he purchased covered in thick snow as if it were a Hallmark card. Carlos also enjoyed cooking. He was the child that knew how to cook most of what his mother knew how to cook. There’s only one other person now who knows how to make tortillas from scratch and that’s his nephew, Terrell. His all-time favorite movies are the Star Wars trilogy. Favorite shows: The Golden Girls and The Twilight Zone.
Carlos loved and protected every animal in his care. His beloved Sydney preceded him in death, she was such a sweetheart. His Big Baby Boy, Toby, who’s full of love. And how can anyone forget Bentley and Puff, his cuddly cats. His most recent fur baby, Sunny, a massive Great Dane that instantly took to Carlos and they were in love.
Carlos accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal savior at a young age. Soon after, he was baptized with water and the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues as the Spirit gave him utterance. His first pastor was Bishop Grover L. Talley, of Antelope Valley Church of God in Christ. His grandparents, Samuel Joseph and Jeanette Randolph transferred their family to Memorial Church of God in Christ under the pastoralship of Samuel T. Hooker. His Grandma Randolph and Mother transferred to All People Christian Center, now Citadel of Praise International, under the pastoralship of Ella C. Jefferson-Davis.
Carlos was married to Nathan Pinkston-Nunley. Carlos was the most kindest and generous person you would’ve ever met. His compassion for other people and animals were impeccable. He never esteemed himself higher than anyone else, he was very humble. He was a loving husband, good son, protective brother, fun uncle, compassionate nephew, hilarious cousin, and committed godfather.
Carlos was preceded in death by both his paternal and maternal grandparents, Truman Moore, Esther Cooper, Samuel J, and Jeanette Randolph III.
