May 3, 1950 – January 21, 2017
Diane Henning, beloved Wife of Edward Henning, passed away at home on January 21, 2017 in Phelan after a long brave battle with kidney cancer. Diane was born in Pittsburgh PA and later lived for many years in Boston MA and then for 14 years in Phelan CA at the Phelan Groovy Cabin Ranch.
Diane was a born again Christian and dedicated her life to Jesus Christ in her early 20’s. Her steadfast love of Jesus sustained her through this rugged sojourn these past 10 years and inspired those around her with encouragement, miraculous healing and Spirituality. She is now in the presence of our Lord and Savior in Heaven. The Family wishes to thank the wonderful and dedicated Oncology staff at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton for their years of endless guidance, care and comfort.
Diane was a most giving and caring person with an incredible smile that is remembered by everyone she knew or met. She was an extremely talented and creative Renaissance Women in the field of Arts and Crafts, turning out 1000’s of beautiful and unique works over her lifetime. Her array of projects ranged from custom dolls, paintings, needlepointing, knitting, sea creatures, animals, stenciling, murals, Santa’s, snowmen and virtually anything else under the Sun – including the Sun, the Moon and the Planets. If something wasn’t moving, Diane painted it – logs, rocks, walls, ceilings, doors, slate, wood chunks and even the propane tank.
Diane came from a line of amazingly talented artists and painters dating from her Grandmother, Irene Moore and her Mother, Nancy Moffatt. Most remarkable was Diane’s generous spirit of giving in that she continued to give away her crafts and arts right up to the end. Virtually everyone she ever knew still has some memento of Diane’s talent and generosity.
Diane was a great gardener and enjoyed planting, growing fruits and vegetables, yard projects, adopting and rescuing kittens, traveling and hiking through the western National parks and the vast Mojave desert, collecting rocks and gems, swinging on the porch swing into the wee hours and gazing at the wondrous starry heavens on our warm and windy desert summer nights. She had a very strong affinity for beaches and the ocean as well and had lived near the eastern shore much of her life.
Diane has five amazing and beautiful children and seven grandchildren. Her Children are Brandon Bollinger of Pittsburgh PA, Brecah Bollinger of Boston MA, Clover Bollinger of Houston TX and their Father, Al Bollinger of Pittsburgh PA - Amber Brides of Boston MA, Tyler Brides of Boston MA and their Father, Owen Brides of Boston MA. Diane’s grandchildren are Elden, Matthew, Halle, Mason, Zacharie, Julia and Nicholas. She has 2 Brothers and 1 Sister - Scott Moffatt of Pittsburgh PA, Todd Moffatt of Annapolis MD and Stacy Moffatt of Pittsburgh PA. Lastly, Diane was blessed with six adorable fluffy kitties – Gutsy, Cassie, Bebe, Buster, Pumpkin and bad boy Dugan.
While Diane will be dearly missed by all, she leaves behind an incredible and inspirational legacy and Spirit that will stay with her Family and friends the remainder of our days.
