Floyd "Jiggs" Monroe Parkes passed away at the age of 93 on May 21, 2021 in Victorville, CA. He was born on February 24, 1928 in Alma, Michigan to Vernon "Bun" and Pearl (Gier) Parkes. He graduated from Alma High School in 1946 and married Dorothy Livingston in September 1950. Jiggs was a celebrated fast pitch softball player in his youth as well as an avid bowler and horseshoe pitcher. Jiggs and Dorothy had four children Steve (Lorelle), John (Lynn), Jan (Ed) Gonzalez all born in Michigan, and Patricia (Gary) Harms born in California. Jiggs had four siblings - Charles, Fay, Vernon (Jr.) and Donna - all of whom preceded him in death along with his daughter Jan who died in 1998. Jiggs was a proud American and will always be remembered for his love of telling stories from his youth and for his generosity as he was always giving gifts to everyone he knew, and to strangers as well. Jiggs remarried in 1988 to Eileen Laughlin and they moved to Victorville in 1999. Eileen passed away in 2019. Along with his three remaining children, Jiggs is survived by 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
