Gabriel Samaniego Muños, a devoted son, father, brother, and grandfather, passed away on June 9, 2024, at the age of 61. Born on March 24, 1963, in Zacatecas, Mexico, Gabriel moved to California as a young adult, where he discovered his passion for the restaurant industry. He began his career at Big Boy Restaurants and later joined Carrows, where his talent and dedication shone brightly.
In 2003, Gabriel embraced an exciting opportunity to manage Don Jose’s Mexican Restaurant in Anchorage, Alaska. Over the next 20 years, he made Anchorage his cherished home, becoming a beloved figure in the community. Gabriel’s dedication to his work and his ability to create a welcoming atmosphere made the restaurant a treasured local institution.
Known for his strong work ethic and generous spirit, Gabriel was a man who always provided for his family and was ever ready to help others in need. His commitment to his loved ones and his willingness to lend a hand to those around him were hallmarks of his character.
Gabriel's legacy of hard work, kindness, and dedication will be remembered by all who knew him. He leaves behind a family that loves him dearly and countless friends who will miss his presence.
He is survived by his children: Mario, Angelica, Gema, Roxanne, and Alexander. He is also fondly remembered by his mother, Zenaida, and his siblings: Marcellina, Gabino, Maria, Angelica and Armando. Gabriel joins his father, Guadalupe, and his brother, Salvador, in eternal rest. He leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and grandchildren whom he cherished deeply.
A memorial service to celebrate Gabriel’s life will be held on Monday, July 8th, 2024, beginning with a Rosary at 9:30 AM and a Mass at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of the Desert Church. This will be followed by a viewing and burial service at 11:30 AM at the Sunset Hills Mortuary and Memorial Park. Please join us in honoring Gabriel’s memory
