

Joe was born December 20, 1937, in Omaha, Nebraska to Joseph and Rosalie Range. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Cherie. He is survived by his children Terri (Chip), Douglas (Lorie) and Patti, eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, his brother -in-law, Chuck Nitz, and his two nieces.
Joe graduated from Del Norte High in Crescent City, California. His junior year of high school he met his wife Cherie, in study hall. They married in 1957 in Biloxi, Mississippi where Joe was stationed in the Navy and was soon transferred to Honolulu Hawaii. He served on Midway Island as a Radar and Electronics Repairman for the Willy Victor 2 Aircraft.
After completing his service, Joe settled in San Jose California, where he worked as a quality control technician at IBM from 1961 to 1971. He later moved to Colorado and founded Range RV, a company specializing in the sales of travel trailers and motorhomes. In 1981, he expanded the business by adding the AMC Jeep and Renault franchise. Joe was very active in the National RV Association (RVDA) and served one term as Chairman on the board of Directors from 1992 to 1993. For his many contributions, he was honored with the prestigious James B. Summers Award- the organization's highest volunteer recognition- for his outstanding service and leadership.
In 1985, Joe relocated Range RV to Vista, California. In 1991 he relocated Range RV to the High Desert in Hesperia, Ca where the business continues to operate by the second and third generations of his family.
Joe was a visionary and builder and a true advocate for the High Desert Community and the Victor Valley College. He served two terms on the Victor Valley College Board of Trustees.
Joe and Cherie loved traveling in their motorhome every chance they had. They created a camping group called "The Range Roamers" comprised of many friends. Joe was an avid pilot and owned several airplanes, but his favorite was his 1949 Navion.
Joe's family was the center of his life, and he loved being a husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and he will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. A Funeral Service will be held for Joseph Range Wednesday April 23, 2025, from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm at Sunset Hills Mortuary, 24000 Waalew Rd, Apple Valley Ca 92307, A graveside service will occur at 1:00 pm followed by a reception.
