Lorraine resided in California through the majority of her childhood and adult youth, while primarily living in Los Angeles she enjoyed traveling on her free time and employment as a secretary.
She met the love of her life Clyde Darr, A proud Marine at a dance for the troops. The romance started when he asked her to dance, soon after he was deployed for duty. They had many things in common, both shared a mutual respect for nature that would eventually take them to many beautiful national parks and remote locations to hike and camp in.
Lorraine waited for Clyde’s return until his service was completed, soon after they married and moved to their first home in West Covina CA where they raised their 4 children.
Lorraine became a full-time housewife and mother while her children were young and later added employment as a part time legal secretary. A true appreciation and respect for nature she loved spending long vacations with family camping all over the country in remote places like the mountains, lakes, rivers and beach, we have so many wonderful memories of summer family vacations and weekend trips.
She also shared with her family a love for the arts such as musicals, plays, the theatre, fine art shows and museums, we would attend these educational and lovely events frequently.
Clyde and Lorraine retired in the rural high desert they loved in Apple Valley CA where they created a desert oasis of trees, wildlife & bird sanctuary that is still maintained in their memory to date.
With her radiant smile and natural whit, she made many good friends throughout her life, always encouraging her family to work hard but always take time to laugh and enjoy life. We will all treasure the many memories of holiday and family reunions she hosted in both her homes.
Lorraine had a passion for music, as a child I remember listening daily to her collection of classic romantic vinyl records echoing throughout our home. She continued enjoying her large collection of classic music until the day she passed.
My Mother was very creative and expressed it by designing, sewing and crocheting beautiful clothing and accessories for her children, grandchildren and charities for children in need.
Lorraine was so strong but would face heartbreak in her later years with the loss of her Husband Clyde, her Son Randy, her Son Jeff and Daughter Claudia. Even though it was a constant struggle due to the loss of her loved ones she continued to see the beauty life offers most every day until the very end of her life here on earth.
Though it is difficult for many of us Lorraine would want us to rejoice in her memory, to reflect on the life she shared with us and know she has now joined her family and friends in a wonderful peaceful place.
Until we meet again, we love and miss you, Lorraine.
