Born and raised in Hesperia, California, he was the son of Hector and Patricia Torres. Early on, Matthew possessed an innate talent for music. He played several instruments, guitar being his favorite. An adventurer at heart, he found joy in hiking and camping in the Sierra Nevada mountains with his father. Summers spent in Newport Beach with his family highlighted his teenage years, leading to an immense love of spending time by the ocean. In addition to his love of the beach, Matthew greatly enjoyed cooking. He pursued an education in culinary arts by attending Le Cordon Bleu North America, subsequently earning his degree in hospitality management and culinary arts. Matthew also had a great mechanical aptitude with a keen interest in building and understanding how all things worked. He had dreams of one day becoming an engineer.
Matthew served in the United States Army from 2013-2019, with his service culminating in an honorable discharge under the rank of Sergeant. Prior to his passing, he worked as an Auxiliary Operator for Oswego Harbor Power.
Matthew was an exceptional son, brother, husband and father who loved his family and always put them first. He invariably worked his hardest to ensure his family was well taken care of. Above all, Matthew was most proud to be Olivia’s dad.
Ultimately, Matthew was a great friend to many. While his departure leaves an unfillable void in the lives of all who knew him, we find comfort in the enduring legacy of joy, passion, and creativity that he leaves behind. He will be deeply missed by those whose lives he touched.
Matthew is survived by his loving wife Tiffany (Tesoriero) Torres and daughter Olivia Torres. He also leaves behind his parents Hector and Patricia Torres, his sisters Amanda (Josh) Loucks and Jessica (Brandon) Nottingham, and his in-laws John “Jay” and Lisa Tesoriero.
Family and friends are invited to a remembrance on Friday, November 17, 2023, from 3-5 p.m. at Sunset Hills Mortuary, 24000 Waalew Road. A celebration of life will immediately follow. Arrangements are under the caring guidance of Sunset Hills Funeral Home.
